My name is Nikki and I am a 50s-something artist living on the Mediterranean island of Cyprus since 2001, after several years living in Thessaloniki, Greece. Born and raised in Midwestern America, I was always a creative person even as a child and teen, being intrigued and focussed on all different kinds of textile creations even at a young age and drawing and painting through school studio work. My passion for art, for creating, has spanned across many media over the years, even into the areas of photography and interior design.My passion for diverse mediums remains in place and I currently work mostly in watercolours and ink, with oil paints on occasion, and always textiles and fabrics for designing quilts which are the most time-intensive and deeply introspective to design. My quilt art reflects my deep connection with colour, line, space and texture as well as my living experience in the rich surroundings of my mountain home in the Paphos district of Cyprus where I take in the connections amongst vibrant colours and intricate details. I work to create an emotionally fulfilling experience in interior spaces, always towards a thoughtful connection with the work in its space. My ongoing creative journey is continually inspired by my daily life in my environment in Cyprus and I constantly seek to express my creative vision of the world.
